The year's coming to an end. It's a lovely Tuesday afternoon, perfect for some reminiscing and reflection, albeit a throbbing headache. Let's do a year-end review of my life so far.
1. The unexpectedPlans to get hitched in 09 fell through when our wedding materialized in mid-08. On some levels, it is a blessing in disguise as the celebrations made my mum a whole lot happier and she's more relaxed and worry-free nowadays. I'm just thankful that she has gone past all the unhappiness and moved towards a rich and more fulfilling life. Suhaimi's presence in our lives has undoubtedly driven the overhanging tension and sorrow that was always subtly on the back of our minds since the tragedy.
2. The expectedI had expected the transition of being a girlfriend to a wife (and also a daughter-in-law) to be pretty smooth as his family is truly amazing and a god-send. There were slight hiccups here and there, but there was nothing that a few disagreements and calm discussions could not settle.
Throughout the five and a half years with him, I had also learned of his lifestyle and made some changes to it. Ha ha. We're still learning and I expect more disagreements, but all I have to do is to think of my parents and I'm back to counting to 30 now before I protest or argue now.
3. The gripelist
- People are still inconsiderate and selfish.
- People are still stabbing each other in the back.
- Parking at Deck A1in my MCP is still a rare occurrence.
- Kids are getting bolder, louder and crazier. (let's face it, my generation and the generations before us were simply just kental, NOW they are bold. )
- Leaders
are uninspiring.
4. Things to be thankful for- My faith in God.
- My struggle to be a good Muslim.
- My families.
- My struggle to be a good wife and daughter.
- My struggle to be a good friend.
- My struggle to do what's right.
- Cool, breezy afternoons.
- Long John Silver's clam chowder.
- The ability to smother my cat with kisses everyday.
- Being surrounded by good, honest and sincere people everyday.
What are you thankful for?
play it softly, so gently♥
